Custom Levels

Custom Levels puts you in control of what your learners practise. Using the level builder, you can create targeted game levels with specific phonics items and words, then assign them directly to students. Learners play through your custom levels in Spellcaster just like any other level.

The Level Builder

The level builder provides an intuitive interface for selecting the phonics content that goes into your custom level.

Builder Features:

Item selector — browse and pick the specific phonics items and words to include
Autosave — your work is saved automatically as you build
Guided tour — a built-in walkthrough introduces the builder the first time you use it
Familiar interface — uses the same editor header and save controls as lesson plans and word mats

Assign to Learners

Once you've built a custom level, assign it to one or more learners. Assigned levels appear in the learner's game alongside the standard progression, so students can play through your targeted content within the same familiar gameplay experience.

How It Works:

Create a custom level in the level builder
Select the phonics items and words you want to include
Save the level
Assign the level to individual learners
Learners play the custom level in Spellcaster

Manage Your Levels

All your custom levels are accessible from the Custom Levels section in the sidebar. Create, edit, and delete levels as your learners' needs change.

Management Features:

Full CRUD — create, view, edit, and delete custom levels at any time
Card and table views for browsing your levels
Safe routing — visiting a deleted or inaccessible level shows a clear 404 page
