Creating Your Lesson Plans

Spellcaster offers two primary methods for creating lesson plans, giving you the flexibility to either start fresh or generate plans based on specific learner needs.

Method 1: Creating from Scratch

  • Navigate to the Lesson Plan Creator in the Resources tab on your dashboard sidebar
  • Start with a blank canvas on the lesson plan creator surface
  • Use the activity blocks from the control panel on the right-hand side
  • Build your lesson plan by adding and arranging activities as needed

Generating Learner-Specific Plans

Create personalized lesson plans tailored to individual learners or specific levels in the scope and sequence.

Creating for Individual Learners:

  • Find your learner in either the main learner dashboard or within your group
  • Click the three dots beside the learner's row
  • Select "Generate Lesson Plan" from the menu
  • Access a pre-filled template matched to the learner's current level

Pre-filled Template Features:

  • Follows a standard structured literacy lesson format
  • Includes both review and new content sections
  • Begins with previously covered material for interleaved practice
  • Fully customizable to meet specific learning needs

Creating Plans from Scope and Sequence

Generate lesson plans directly from any level in the scope and sequence.

Steps to Generate:

  • Click the Scope and Sequence button beneath the Resources table in your dashboard sidebar
  • Locate your desired level in the sequence
  • Click the three dots beside the level
  • Select "Generate Lesson Plan" from the menu options

Customization Options:

  • Modify any pre-filled content to suit your needs
  • Add or remove activities as needed
  • Adjust the difficulty level of activities
  • Rearrange the lesson flow to match your teaching style
